Day 15: Aci Castello
It being Sunday, no public transport and many places closed, we decided to have a really quiet day and splash €70 on a lovely meal.
But first, il castello. Built about 10 years after the Battle of Hastings, il Castello di Aci demonstrates the imperialist ambitions of the Normans.

The castle is beautifully maintained and well worth a visit.

We had booked lunch in what appeared to be the smartest place in town. As usual, we asked for the plates to be ‘a condividere’, so that we get to taste more dishes.
We’re really enjoying the seafood here in Italy and the staff were lovely. It’s just a slight shame the secondo piatto, mixed grilled fish, was overcooked. Otherwise the meal was quasi perfetto.
After a rest we went out for a walk and gelato before returning to our balcony - the one with the parasol, second building from the right.

Another Anon comment - thank you for taking us with you on your adventure. Lovely to read about all the history and food etc. it makes it sooo much harder to open up the laptop to start prep for Monday. Looking forward to your next post.
ReplyDeleteYou are packing a lot into your travels you two. I am envious of the delicious meals you parade under our noses though of course we can’t smell or taste the food so trust you to do that for us! Jim
