Day 21: Oxford to Milan
Back on the tracks (and plane🙁)

After three weeks back in England we have resumed our Interrail trip. We decided that doing the trip in two parts would make the most of the two month window that we had to complete our fifteen travel days. So after getting a lift into Witney with Rachel we were soon using our free bus passes to reach Oxford and the train to Heathrow.
Since starting this holiday I realise how much I prefer the train to the plane. It’s the chaos of airports, the lengthy waiting in public areas, the queuing on cramped gangways and the interminable delays.
What a relief when we got off the plane in Milan knowing that there will be no more planes this trip. 😀
A quick transfer by metro and bus took us to our b and b in a wealthy looking area. The 1920s building had a lovely stained glass set of doors with an inner courtyard filled with of trees and flowers.
As it was on the 4th floor we squashed into the original lift made of wood with inlaid marquetry.
We walked a couple of blocks to a kerbside local pizzeria where we shared a heart shaped pizza and chatted to the friendly owner. He was so trusting leaving us ‘in charge’ for ten mins in the tiny eating area while he went to deliver a pizza on his scooter. When he came back he jokingly asked how many pizzas I’d made.

Realising we had lost an hour we were soon tucked up in bed.
