Day 22: Milano to Tirano
The owner of our comfy B&B in a nice suburb of Milan was formerly an architect and over breakfast we discussed places we have enjoyed visiting. I wasn’t quite in travel mode and dawdled too long, which meant we caught our train to Colico with just 3 minutes to spare.
The train journey to Colico was a delight, particularly once we got to Lake Como.
Currently there is a replacement bus service between Colico and Tirano, due to maintenance work on the railway, but the connection couldn’t have worked smoother.
By 1.30 we were in Tirano, but our check-in time wasn’t until 3.00pm - just time for a beer and sandwich.

Tirano is a friendly, touristy place made busy by the UNESCO listed Bernini Express, which we are planning to take tomorrow. It has a very interesting church, though, which is a place of pilgrimage due to the sighting of the Virgin Mary in the early 16th century.

| I’m sure some bits of this are rude. |

The old town really deserved more time than we had to spend. We wanted to eat and rest early as our train leaves at 8.05 tomorrow.

| I wonder how much it is? |

As this is our last night in Italy we had to have a gelato.
